Welcome to the World Leukemia Day Hop#WLDayHope #WLDforGaiaWorld Leukemia Day on September 4 is a global campaign led collaboratively by patient groups around the world. Is the day of the year when people around the world can come together to help raise awareness about leukemia. By increasing leukemia awareness and educating the world about the signs and symptoms of this condition, we can work together to help patients with this disease receive early diagnoses, help more people, improve their quality of life after diagnosis, and give them hope! But can we really do anything? Yes, we can:Donate bloodDonate bone marrowHelp research with contributions.
My experience
It was November 2020 and my 12 year old daughter Gaia had a little fever and sore throat, the next day bruises appeared on her legs and arms, we then decided to do a blood count. It was 11:00 am and by 3:30 pm we were already in the hospital...the doctor uttered a word I never wanted to hear, LEUKEMiA.
We went into a whirlwind of fear, a true nightmare, but the words CARE and RESEARCH ignited our HOPE. I know it's like that for so many families around the world, it's the one thing that unites us, Hope.
In the hard times, creativity and love of cardmaking helped me to keep going, to fill my mind with positive thoughts that would help my little girl not to see her mommy sad and that was crucial for her.
Now I turn to you all to ask you to help research, because it is thanks to research that we find cures, many children and many patients in the world will be grateful to you.
I want to join these two names, LEUKEMIA and HOPE in the name of my Gaia and of all the sick people in the world!!
On this special day, cardmakers from all over the world have joined us and created a card inspired by Hope. These incredible artists have dedicated their time to awareness, visit all of our artists to see their wonderful inspiration.
